Colette Hanley - Operations Engineer

I enjoy the culture which Fisher & Paykel Healthcare has and encourages. The people who work here are typically of a similar mindset. Also, as FPH is a medical device manufacturer, it feels good to work for a company with a great work ethic, who daily work with integrity and quality.

I was encouraged by the product design opportunities. As I was recruited whilst overseas, I did not have any prior knowledge of Fisher & Paykel Healthcare so my first impression came from the staff I met on the recruitment drive and the way in which they described the company. There was also a Flash presentation playing which gave a great overall picture of the site here in NZ.  This, along with the descriptions, gave me a good impression of the culture and the work environment and it sounded like the kind of company I would like to work for.

Staff are given excellent training opportunities and a great deal of attention is given to personal development by immediate managers. I think this is quite unique for any company.

It is not the general culture to work overtime unless a particular project requires some extra work. I have worked at places before, when an extra hour or two every day is the norm for everyone and to not stay makes you look like the odd one out! You could almost say that the staff here work hard then play hard!

The subsidised canteen is also a great asset. I don’t think there can be many offices in Auckland which can boast this or the wonderful landscaped gardens which you can wander round at break times. It is a relaxed atmosphere to work in. People are generally friendly and easy to get on with.

Brynlea Hunter-Morpeth - Human Resources Manager

Initially, I was attracted to the iconic brand name and the fact that FPH is a NZ success story. When I came out for an interview, I was really impressed by the facilities and the cutting edge work being done here.

It’s really satisfying to be part of such a successful company and knowing what we’re doing improves peoples' lives. The people are great. The workforce is really diverse and it’s really nice seeing so many different cultures and nationalities working together. There’s no other company in NZ doing what we do so that makes us pretty unique! It’s exciting to see product designed and made by an NZ company going all over the world and competing successfully on the global stage.

If you were to ask me what it is like to work at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, I would say that the people are easy to get along with and there’s a really good feeling around the place. The offices are fantastic and the café is a real bonus.  So all in all, it’s a pretty great place to work.

The company doubles in size every five or so years and that means there are heaps of opportunities. I would absolutely recommend a friend to work for us at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, it is definitely a place where you can build your career.

Marcus Driller - In-house Legal Counsel

I love that Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is a recognised international company yet has its head office in New Zealand. One day, I am seeking advice from advisors in Turkey and India, the next, I'm on conference calls with our team in Germany and the US. I am surrounded by intelligent people who are always looking for new solutions and ways to do things better. Whilst I really enjoy the challenge of my work, I also really appreciate the family-friendly culture which exists - allowing me to maintain a really healthy work-life balance!

I was attracted to join Fisher & Paykel Healthcare as our first child was born with a rare birth defect and we were fortunate enough to have 18 days with him in Starship Hospital. During the course of his life, our son was given the best chance at life because of medical devices designed and manufactured by Fisher & Paykel Healthcare - the Neopuff and the MR850 humidifier. I wanted to work for a company which plays such a crucial role in the well-being of millions of people around the world.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is a unique place to work. The open plan environment was a bit of a change for me, coming from a law firm with my own office. I've been amazed how much I have enjoyed the change to an open-plan office as it makes our team a lot more collaborative and aware of everything that is going on. There aren't many workplaces in New Zealand where you get to sit next to the CEO and hear all of the key decisions being made on a day-to-day basis.

Without hesitation, I would recommend a friend to work here. Prior to working here, I had heard really positive stories from my friends who work at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and it was exciting to hear from them about the products they were involved in manufacturing and the impact that those products were having. I can say now, that those stories were true and it is exciting to be part of an organisation making such a difference.

Thomas Holyoak - ICT Support Technician

Having just started at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare I was attracted to the fact that it was a secure job, which was important for me when job hunting.  I was surprised at the large modern working environment and great outdoor environment.

The IT team is large, the company is expanding, and I really enjoy the fact that I am working for a fast paced, forward thinking company.  From an IT point of view, we get to trial the very latest software to try and enhance the IT Network.

So far, it has been very enjoyable and it is nice to think that, although I am not directly involved, I am part of a company that is trying to improve the lives of patients around the world. I really don’t see why anyone would not enjoy working here.

Monica Brbich - Accountant

Some of the things that I enjoy about working at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare are the variety of work, the international reach,  the different types of people that you get to meet,  and most importantly the opportunities that you are given.

The unity of people each play their part to help patients and enable a company from little ol’ NZ to make a big stamp on the world.

If you were to ask me what it is like to work at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, I would say that there is so much to learn working here, the work is interesting and challenging, and the people are diverse and friendly, ensuring that it is a really nice environment to work in.
